This month's featured authors are: Jenny Milchman, Wendy Walker, Brian Freeman and Kyle Mills with Lisa Black as MC. Following a brief introduction each of our guests will talk about their work, and then read for about three minutes followed by Q&A. Join us in the Zoom Room where the first 100 will have the chance to ask questions live. Everyone else can catch the event by clicking on Facebook Live where you can ask questions via comments. We'll be monitoring both chats throughout the evening, so come prepared.

Note: This time you will need a passcode for the Zoom room, so please email us in advance to get the code.

Then, as a special treat, each of our guests has paired a favorite snack food with their favorite drink providing a recipe for an enjoyable evening. You can find the recipes below, and trust us, the Rogues will be cooking all day. Drinking will commence at the start of the show!

Jenny Milchman writes thrillers about women who meet monsters...and beat them. Her work has won the Mary Higgins Clark and Silver Falchion awards and been nominated for a PEN/Faulkner, Macavity, and Anthony, praised by publications from the New York Times to Mystery Scene. It's appeared on Best Of lists, including POPSUGAR, Pure Wow, and Strand Magazine. Jenny was thrilled when the menacing setting of her latest novel was compared to the King's...Stephen, that is. In The Second Mother, Julie Weathers isn't sure if she's running away or starting over, but when she moves to a remote island in Maine to teach, she comes to suspect that she may have traded one place shrouded in trouble for another. The inhabitants of Mercy Island may be more of a threat to her than its isolation.

When asked about a fave snack and drink, Jenny said: "This is going to sound so Jessica Fletcher, but tea and a muffin! It's only the characters in my books who tear apart live hogs with their teeth for breakfast. Not really."

Jenny's super yummy, highly adaptable, more healthy, no fail MUFFIN:
Dry Ingredients
2 cups any flour (white, whole wheat, oat, spelt, almond, coconut)--I usually do 1/2  c white, 1 c whole wheat, and then 1/4 c and 1/4 c other kinds
2 ts baking powder
1/2 ts salt
Wet Ingredients
Mix together
1/2 sugar (white, brown, honey, maple syrup or a combination)
1/2 melted butter or olive oil or avocado oil or sunflower
2 room temp eggs
1/3-1/2 c buttermilk or yogurt or sour cream or almond milk (use the higher measure if batter mixes up too thick)
1 ts-1tb vanilla
Lemon or orange zest if wanted, depending on your flavor (see mix-in's below)
Then Go Crazy: Add in blueberries or other fruit; chocolate chips; raisins or cranberries or chopped apricots; toasted chopped nuts or seeds; coconut flakes; shredded carrots or zucchini
You can fill muffin cups half full, add a dollop of jam or peanut butter or sweetened cream cheese, then top with rest of batter
Cover tops of muffins with struesal (mixture of flour, butter, sugar, oats till crumbly)
Bake at 350 degrees for 16-20 mins or till toothpick comes out with loose crumbs

Wendy Walker graduated from both Brown and Georgetown and has practiced corporate,
family and child advocacy law, and has three sons. With only four books out, her novels have been translated into 23 foreign languages, topped bestseller lists both nationally and abroad, been selected for Reese Witherspoon Book Club, The Today Show and The Book of the Month Club, and have been optioned for both television and film. Her latest, Don’t Look For Me, begins with that most inexplicable of events: a mother who chooses to walk away from her own family. People do it all the time—but is that what really happened to Molly Clarke? Her daughter travels to her last seen location, determined to find out, but risks a date with the same destiny.

Favorite snack?  Sharp cheddar cheese and crackers!

Favorite drink? A Cosmo
2 ounces Tito's Vodka
1 ounce Cointreau
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
a splash of cranberry juice

Brian Freeman is a New York Times bestselling author of more than 20 psychological thrillers. His novel Spilled Blood won the award for Best Hardcover Novel in the ITW Thriller Awards. His books have been sold in 22 languages, and last month, Amazon listed his stand-alone novel Thief River Falls among the top 10 bestselling mysteries/thrillers of 2020 so far.

In his latest Jonathan Stride novel, Funeral for a Friend, Jonathan visits his dying friend, Steve, only to hear a shocking deathbed confession:  that he protected Stride by covering up a murder. Hours later, the police dig up Steve’s yard and find a body with a bullet hole in its skull.

When Brian is writing, he'll have a Surly Furious IPA in hand (which he admits seems rather rogue-ish) and a good supply of Minnesota cheese curds.

Kyle Mills has also written some of Jason Bourne novels of Robert Ludlum, as well as Mitch Rapp books for Vince Flynn, as well as his own fabulous books! But his new release is about Mitch Rapp, who is usually racing to save the world from some terrible fate--but in this case, the fate has already befallen us when ISIS takes out the entire US power grid. In Total Power, Rapp and his team embark on a desperate search for the only people who know how to repair the damage—the ones responsible. But how can they succeed when all the normal tools have gone dead--the communication, computers, fuel, even food are simply not there?

To snack along with Kyle, pop up some movie theater popcorn! Then pour yourself a glass of cabernet or a Spanish red to go with it.

Our M.C., Rogue Lisa Black is the author of 14
novels featuring forensic specialists, which just

happens to be her day job. Her new novel, Every Kind of Wicked, was released in August.
